Studies have consistently shown that workplaces with a focus on dei outperform their competitors.
They have better bottom lines, they innovate more effectively, enjoy higher employee #recruitment and retention rates, and even show better customer satisfaction. This is because having a diverse workplace means more skillsets, more points of view, and therefore encourages more effective strategy-making and problem-solving.
Many international companies no longer see DEI as “just” a HR concern, but a business-critical issue that is integral to strategy.
Since the benefits of DEI are already well known, why aren’t more Singapore organisations rushing to adopt DEI measures? Is it still seen to be an “imported” idea not applicable to Singapore? Or that we don’t yet have the publicly available Singapore data and toolkits to be able to successfully do this in a local-specific context?
