FLEX APPEAL: Employees Want FWAs, Employers Can Benefit—But How Do We Make Them Work?

A special gathering of key opinion leaders in the fields of labour, human resource and policy to discuss how to empower and support both men and women in today’s workplace.

You are invited to attend FLEX APPEAL—a special event organised by independent non-profit organisation SG Her Empowerment (SHE) to discuss the recent guidelines on flexible work arrangements, and the conditions necessary to enable their successful implementation.

Organised as part of its SHE Empowers Women@Work programme, FLEX APPEAL will also see the launch of a brand-new research study (done by SHE in partnership with Milieu) with local data on progressive workplace policies.. Surveying 1,200 Singaporean workers aged 18 and above, including 510 business leaders, we studied how prevailing gender mindsets can hinder the effective implementation of these policies.

Highlights include:

·         Men were more likely to feel they were overlooked for promotions after adopting flexi-work, pointing to underlying biases and traditional mindsets.

·         Flexi-work reduces the gender gap in caregiving hours by up to half, making work-home balance more achievable.

·         Benefits aside, businesses risk losing invaluable senior female personnel if they do not provide flexibility.

·         Supporting businesses in capability development is a must for effective rollout of flexi-work, especially in enhancing internal policies, equipping supervisors and empowering senior leaders to walk the talk.

The event is graced by Guest of Honour Ms Yeo Wan Ling, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress and Director of U Women and Family and U SME, and features two expert panel sessions:
