SNEAK PEEK 2024: High Commission of Canada

SHE's Sneak Peek 2024 programme opened with a bang with the first visit of the year at the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

28 young women from various schools and tertiary institutions had the incredible opportunity to step behind the curtain and explore the inner workings of the High Commission. From organizing cultural exchanges to trade negotiations, participants gained insights into the many responsibilities that go into the working of a diplomatic mission.

They also gained knowledge on Canada's trade relations with Singapore and the region and learned about bilateral agreements, economic partnerships, and the impact of trade policies on both nations.

As an added bonus, the girls interacted with members of the immigration team who shared their experiences, challenges, and the rewarding aspects of their work. From visa processing and assisting Canadian citizens abroad to learning the difference between a refugee and an asylum seeker, participants had a lot to unpack in the two hours they spent at the High Commission. The Sneak Peek visit ended with a pop quiz which spurred friendly competition, laughter and camaraderie.
