SHE Launches FLEX APPEAL: New Research on Flexible Work Arrangements

Does your company have FLEX APPEAL? People want flexible work arrangements, and they make business sense for employers—but are we self-sabotaging everything?

On 22 July 2024, SHE held a special event in collaboration with National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Women and Family to discuss the recent guidelines on flexible work arrangements, and the conditions necessary to enable their successful implementation.

We also released a brand-new local research study in partnership with Milieu Insight based on local data that contains some surprising findings.

Perhaps the finding that stood out the most was that many respondents felt men should be considered caregivers too, yet men also reported being penalised for taking up flexi-work arrangements. People want FWA, the data show that it benefits companies—yet our traditional mindsets and gender stereotypes are hampering FWAs’ success.

How can we make FWAs work for everyone—women, men and employers?

The panelists shared their thoughts and experiences very candidly, and the over-100 strong audience had many questions that made our event run over its scheduled time!

We'll be collating responses and hope to provide even more insights soon.

In the meantime, here are some photos of the event:
