Lights! Camera! Action! A Sneak Peek Visit to Infinite Studios | 17 July 2024
SHE recently took a group of girls from secondary schools and institutions of higher learning on a special Sneak Peek visit to Infinite Studios, one of Singapore’s most celebrated film production companies. They not only witnessed cutting-edge technology in action but also received life lessons from a showbiz legend.
Founded in 1997, Infinite Studios is an integrated media entertainment and creative services company offering post-production, visual effects, and animation services for the global digital media industry. Known for top-tier projects like 'Crazy Rich Asians' and the HBO series 'Westworld', its facility at One-North Mediapolis houses two of Singapore's largest soundstages.
The visit began with a showcase of Infinite Studios' project footage, accompanied by insightful commentary from Chief Operating Officer Freddie Yeo. He discussed the challenges—but also the magic—of film and content production, highlighting Singapore's status as a world-class destination for shooting and post-production.
The girls were then surprised by a special guest—award-winning artiste, sitcom legend, and businesswoman Irene Ang. Famous for her role as Rosie in Singapore’s longest-running sitcom ‘Phua Chu Kang’ and as a typical Singaporean mummy in the highest-grossing movie ‘Ah Boys to Men’, Irene is also the founder and CEO of FLY Entertainment, Singapore’s first and largest artiste management agency. Additionally, she founded IAmCasting, a casting app launched at the Singapore Media Festival on December 7, 2023.
Irene shared her inspiring journey from a rough childhood to becoming a successful entrepreneur through grit, resilience, and a willingness to learn. Honored by Singapore Women’s Weekly as one of the ‘Greatest Women of Our Time’, Irene runs six businesses and serves on several boards, including the IMDA Media Literacy Council and the Singapore Media Festival Advisory Board.
The girls were thrilled, eagerly asking Irene questions and taking selfies with her after the session.
The visit concluded with a tour of Infinite Studios’ giant virtual reality studio, where large screens can transport performers to various worlds—from gritty cityscapes to beaches and even a dragon’s lair—at the touch of a button. The girls were awed by the demonstration of this cutting-edge technology, sparking their curiosity about careers in media production.
Thank you Infinite Studios, Freddie Yeo and Irene Ang for a truly dazzling afternoon to remember!
